Shinagawa has long been a key player in Japan’s refractory supply industry, particularly in the iron and steel sector. Yet, in the face of declining domestic demand and a shrinking market, we made a bold and strategic decision several years ago: to expand beyond our traditional boundaries.

We transformed from a Japan-centered business into a global enterprise. Our focus widened --- from refractories to include insulation, ceramics, and engineering --- and we diversified beyond iron and steel into new market segments. While our journey is ongoing, the globalization of Shinagawa is clearly gaining momentum. At this pivotal stage, seamless and close communication across all business units is more critical than ever. As our customers operate on an increasingly global scale, we must respond as a unified organization. To reflect this commitment, we introduced the slogan: “One SHINAGAWA.”

In 2025, as we celebrate our 150th anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment to embracing challenges, pursuing sustainable growth, and continually improving, while contributing decisively to the global community.
